Two days at the Cosmostation skitouring program

Almaty – Big Almaty Gorge – Big Almaty Lake – Zhusaly-Kezhen Pass – Kosmostation

About the tour

This is an exciting journey to the legendary Kosmostation, located at Zhusaly-Kezhen Pass.
From Tourist Peak, you’ll experience breathtaking 360° views of snow-covered summits and glaciers, the city of Almaty, and the stunning Big Almaty Peak.
And of course – we’ll carve out the best lines in the spirit of true cosmic freeride.

Program schedule

Day OneDay Two
  • Departure from Almaty at 5:00 a.m.

    Transfer to the Cosmostation at an altitude of 3350 m.

    Please make sure you have your passport or ID with you, as we will be passing through a border zone with Kyrgyzstan,
    where you will need to show your documents. 

  • Accommodation in a mountain hut

    The hut has electricity, gas, dishes, and a warm stove

  • Skitour, skiing

    to the western ridge area of Tourist Peak. We’ll ski on the north and northwest-facing slopes.

  • Climbing: 350-400 vertical meters

  • Slope steepness: 20-30 degrees

  • Number of descents: 1-3

    Depending on the average skill level of the group

  • Recreational program

    Lunch, rest, and free time. You can book a tour of the Cosmostation, it’s an astronomical research complex build in Soviet Era.

    Dinner and overnight stay in the hut.

  • Wake up at 6:00 a.m. / Breakfast at 6:30 a.m.

    Equipment check and departure no later than 7:30 a.m.

  • Ski tour to Tourist Peak (3954 m)

    Panoramic views of peaks: Karnizny, Sovetov, Ozerny, and others. Return to hut for lunch.

  • Return to the hut, lunch

  • Climbing: 600 vertical meters

  • Slope steepness: 20-30 degrees

  • Transfer back to Almaty.

30% deposit required to secure the booking

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 3 days before the start of the program.

* If you cancel your trip less then5 days in advance, the prepayment will be withheld.

** Transfer fee charges in case of deposit refund are covered by the client.

*** Depending on weather, air temperature and show conditions, guides have the right to make changes in the program.

  • Two pairs of thermal socks

  • Neck band or buff
  • High SPF sunscreen (SPF 30-50)
  • Lip balm with UV protection
  • Sunglasses and ski mask

    (wet wipes, toilet paper)

  • Spare batteries for a flashlight and avalanche transceiver

  • Touring skis or splitboard

Safety equipment

  • Avalanche safety equipment

    beacon, probe and shovel is a must!

  • Regular or avalanche backpack

    (25-40 liters with an option to carry skis or snowboards).

  • Helmet and ski mask are a must!
